Teamfight Tactics Patch 14.5: Reworked Items and a Shifting Meta

Explore TFT Patch 14.5, released May 29, 2025, with a major item overhaul, new artifacts, and balance changes for Cyber City and Revival: Remix Rumble.

The release of Teamfight Tactics (TFT) Patch 14.5 on May 29, 2025, was a big deal. It changed a lot of items, made some balance changes, and opened up a whole new set of strategic options. This update changes how players think about team compositions and item builds for both the Cyber City set and the Revival: Remix Rumble mode, which is available until July 29, 2025. Rodger "Riot Prism" Caudill wrote the patch notes, which say that the new options will not change existing build paths very much. Let's get into the details and see how these changes could change the TFT meta.

A New Era for Gear: Item Overhaul

The main focus of Patch 14.5 is a complete item overhaul that fixes design flaws, makes items fit their thematic roles, and adds new strategies to the game. Esports.gg says that the update adds item swaps, reworks, and four new artifacts, all of which are meant to make the game more interesting.

Item Swaps

Several core items have been replaced to better suit their intended purposes:

  • Redemption → Spirit Visage: This swap shifts focus to tank units, encouraging greedier strategies by enhancing healing for frontline champions, drawing inspiration from League of Legends’ Spirit Visage.

  • Runaan’s Hurricane → Kraken’s Fury: Moving away from its niche role, Kraken’s Fury emphasizes scaling Attack Damage (AD), making it a versatile choice for AD carries.

  • Statikk Shiv → Void Staff: Statikk Shiv moves to the Artifact pool, while Void Staff becomes a core item offering mana, Ability Power (AP), Attack Speed (AS), and Magic Resistance (MR) reduction, ideal for AP-focused compositions.

Item Reworks

Existing items have been tweaked to refine their functionality:

  • Guinsoo’s Rageblade: Now grants 7% stacking AS per second (previously per attack), smoothing out its scaling for consistent performance.

  • Sterak’s Gage: Gains omnivamp, boosts health to +300, increases AD to +40%, and provides a shield that decays over 6 seconds, making it a powerhouse for bruisers.

  • Guardbreaker → Striker’s Flail: Reworked to amplify damage by 5% per critical strike (stacking up to 4 times), with AP bonuses removed for a more focused role.

  • Runaan’s Tempest: Grants 6% stacking AD, with AD reduced to +30% and AS increased to +25%.

  • Statikk Favor: Applies 30% Shred for the rest of combat, with AS boosted to +30%.

  • Lich Bane: Bonus damage increased to 240/540.

  • Mogul’s Mail: Health per stack raised to +10.

  • Wit’s End: Adds +300 Health and +30 Armor.

  • Absolution: Regenerates 5% missing HP per second.

  • Sterak’s Megashield: Provides a shield of 100% max HP over 8 seconds, with Health +600 and AD +80%.

  • Willbreaker: Offers 10% damage amplification on critical strikes, stacking up to 4 times, with AS +40% and
